 SOCIAL CONCERNS

Christian Aid is the official relief and development agency of the United Reformed Church.

Christ Church has two representatives on the local Christian Aid Committee.

The committee organise fund-raising events for Christian Aid in and around Buntingford throughout the year as well as raising awareness of Christian Aids campaigns through the local churches.

We organise the local Christian Aid week collections every year.

Lunches for Christian Aid are held in Christ Church's hall at 12noon on the first Friday of every month (every Friday in Lent).

Other fund-raising events normally include carol singing, a sponsored walk and a coffee morning.

Collections are made in Christ Church and the local Anglican churches when requests for a specific cause are received from Christian Aid.

Normally our local fund-raising is focused towards a Christian Aid,'People to People' project, and in recent years we have raised money for
the following:

· Provision of a well for the people of the Dogon plateau in Mali.

· Support of displaced people in Angola.

 · The passage House project, helping street girls in Brazil.

 · The Kassar Trust providing safe water and education in the Indian
   Himalayas.
